The Advanced Chart section allows you to leverage the best of Chaikin Analytic's Power Gauge Rating and other intellectual property, while having multiple options to visualize and assess a Stock/ETF.
It is exclusively available on tablets or desktop computers since at phone size you would not be able to take advantage of these features.
(Note: Advanced Chart is only accessible with certain subscription levels. Please contact our support team if you would like this feature but don't see it on your screen).
Accessing and exiting the Advanced Chart
You can access an Advance Chart for any symbol by first searching and selecting the symbol. From the company or ETF page (Power Gauge Report tab), there will be an “Advanced Chart” option right above the chart.
Click the Advanced Chart button to enter Advanced Chart mode. To get back to your publications and other site features, you can “Exit Advanced Chart”.
Page Header Features
Above the chart area is the page header. This will contain general information about the symbol, including the Power Gauge Rating:
1. Symbol info and add to list
- The first thing above the chart is the symbol and name. Longer names will be truncated, but you can hover your mouse over the name to see the full name.
- Each symbol will have a "+" icon to the right. Click this and follow the instructions to add the symbol to any of your existing watchlists, or to create a new list with that symbol.
2. Power Gauge Rating
- To the right of the symbol is the Chaikin Power Gauge Rating summary. For stocks, this includes the overall rating and a quick color-coded view of the four main categories: Financials, Earnings, Technicals, and Experts. Green = Bullish, Yellow = Neutral, Red = Bearish. For ETFs, this includes the overall rating and the Power Bar showing the number of bullish, neutral, and bearish stocks (for equity ETFs).
- Click on the overall rating symbol to see the full rating overview and a link to the Power Gauge Rating Stock report (for stocks).
3. Checklist
- The header includes a summary of the symbol's checklist including how many of the strength or timing categories are strong. Click the “Show All” option to see the details.
4. Industry and EPS
- To the right of the checklist are the Industry info and EPS report summary. For industry, the color of the icon (green vs red) will indicate if the industry is strong or weak respectively according to the number of bullish or bearish stocks in that industry. For EPS info, if the stock has recently reported, the EPS info will include the earnings results. Otherwise it will give the approximate date of the next earnings call.
5. Last Price and Change
- To the far right of the page is the last price and change. The date/time stamp will indicate when the price was last refreshed. Note, the Chaikin Analytics system receives near real-time prices only.
Note: depending on the size of your screen, you may see icons for each of the items above instead of the full view. Click on these icons to see details.
The Chart Space
The majority of the page is designed so you can focus on the charts. The chart space is divided into the Chart controls, the Chart, Indicators, and Events, and the cursor panel.
Chart Controls
The chart controls include:
1. Time frame selector
- Select the time frame for the chart by clicking from the options. The performance number to the left will update accordingly.
2. Chart Type selector
- Choose from the available chart types with one Primary Chart selection and any additional secondary chart options.
3. Indicators selector
- Choose from the available indicators or uncheck the defaults to remove indicators from the chart view.
4. Events selector
- Choose from the available events or signals to add them as overlays on the chart. You can choose to show all events or a subset according to what you check or uncheck.
- (Note: Buy/Sell signals are only accessible with certain subscription levels. Please contact our support team if you would like this feature but don't see it on your screen).
Chart and Cursor Panel
You can view your selections in the main charting area. The space in this area is fixed, so the more items selected, the less space per selection and vice-versa. If you find that it is hard to see all of the items at once, try unselecting some of your options to give more space.
To view data on the chart, hover over anywhere on the chart and the data will update according to the position of your mouse. To lock the crosshairs and use arrow keys or mouse clicks, simply click anywhere on the chart. To unlock the cursor, click the cursor icon and it will go back to mouse hover.
The price data is always represented at the top left (in addition to being the first item on the cursor panel). You can collapse the panel for any chart with multiple price points such as the Open High Low Close Chart. To give more space to the chart, you can also collapse the cursor panel by clicking the collapse arrows to the top right of the panel.
The List Navigator
Similar to the Company and ETF pages, the list navigator allows you to search or select a stock or ETF to view in the chart space. You can also switch to any of your lists and view tickers as a group. Collapse the panel for more space by clicking the arrow to the right of the search.
The Chaikin team is constantly updating our screens to include new features. Continue to watch for exciting additions coming to the Advanced Chart section of our site.
